Bedroom Cleaning Checklist: How to Deep Clean Your Room

To make a bedroom clean and organized as much possible, you need to schedule a regular cleaning routine at least once a day. But what are the things you need to do and keep in mind when deep cleaning a bedroom? In this article, we’ll be showing you a complete cleaning checklist for every task and chore when tidying up your private space.

Bedroom Cleaning Materials

  • Storage boxes
  • Garbage bag
  • Clean cloths
  • Furniture polish solution
  • Glass cleaner solution
  • Duster
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Lint brush

The Complete Bedroom Cleaning Checklist

  1. Organize the pillow and blankets - Begin the bedroom cleaning checklist by organizing; this includes organizing the pillows and blankets neatly into one perfect stack. However, don’t bother making the bed anymore — this is a process best saved last after you’re done tidying up the entire room.
  2. Take out unnecessary items that don’t belong in the bedroom - Aside from taking out meals and snacks from the bedroom, it is important to do away with unnecessary items that can do more harm than good when tidying up the room. This includes your drinking glass, a big fitness equipment or a personal craft project you’re working on. Be sure to take them outside or place them in a secure area where they can’t be knocked or toppled over.
  3. Take out the sheets - After doing away with the unnecessary clutter in your room, take out the sheets from the bed to prepare them for laundering. Simply store them inside a laundry bag or basket and set aside until you’re ready to head on to the laundry area.
  4. Dust everything - Like with any cleaning process, it’s important to start things off by dusting away furniture, appliances and fixtures before going deep into the entire thing. Using a duster and a microfiber cloth, wipe away dust formations from any surface that you can get your hands on.
  5. Clean light fixtures - Clean all light fixtures in the room — from your night lampshade to the ceiling light — by using an extended feather duster or a special vacuum cleaner nozzle. If you don’t have any of the two, you can use a damp microfiber cloth to do the trick.
  6. Remove sticky stains or build-ups from wood surfaces - Eliminate stick stains from wood surfaces by using a gentle polishing solution and a damp microfiber cloth. This will help restore and retain the shine of fixtures bearing wooden materials.
  7. Clean the mattress - Remove stains from the mattress by using a vacuum machine. If the mattress has a strong and pungent odor, you can also treat it by sprinkling a handful of baking soda powder onto the surface.
  8. Vacuum the floor - Vacuum around the floor area to get rid of dust particles and any dirt formations. Simply go through the entire room using the cleaner and lift furniture items when needed to give way for cleaning. Doing this can help reduce and even completely eliminate dust buildup in the room.
  9. Take out the trash - Empty all trash bins inside the room and the bathroom dispose them properly to reduce the spread of bacteria and germs. Clean the bins by scrubbing them with a stiff scrub brush and a mixture of hot water and vinegar.
  10. Wash the sheets - Washing the sheets is the final step dedicated to tidying in the checklist. To do this, launder your bed linens and pillowcases well according to the label instructions. Afterwards, return them to your bed once dry.
  11. Freshen up the bedroom - After doing all the tasks in the cleaning checklist, it’s time to jazz up your bedroom! You can do this by putting on a lively whiff of your favorite scent by way of a scented candle or a few drops of your go-to essential oil using an aroma diffuser.
